OBSERVATIONS BY ALAN ROSENBERG

2026 ISSUE OF LA CREOLE DEBUTS, CO-EDITED BY ALAN ROSENBERG.

The 2026 edition of La Créole, the annual journal of the Louisiana Creole Research Association, edited by myself and Melissa Daggett @mmdaggett, and designed by Suzanne Stokes (my cousin 🥰) makes its debut at the Association's conference today. The hard copy is available for sale on the Association's website (link below), where you can also find a link to the Association's dedicated page on the website of Xavier University of Louisiana, where you can download a PDF of the 2026 issue, and all of our back issues. At Xavier's site you will find a searchable database of authors and topics. Since we began our online collaboration with Xavier last year "La Créole" has been downloaded more than 4000 times. This 19th issue of La Créole has an unanticipated theme: the cultural and geographical breadth of the Louisiana Creole community. Amongst the outstanding response to our Call for Papers we received a number of articles exploring the migrations and adaptations of Creole people, across borders and across cultures. In this issue you will read about a Creole matriarch’s origins in Saint Helena, Creole families migrating to and from Haiti, a Creole family with Indian roots - both Native American and South Asian, and the importance of Saint Joseph’s Day to both the Italian-Creole community and the community of Creole people of color and how their traditions have merged. https://www.lacreole.org/journals
